TEEJ-festival of women

Say Teej

    AUG 30 -
Finally, the day is here to end, alas, not to end forever. The day of red saris and bangles for Hindu women is ending today. Nevertheless, the rest of the day is just about to unfold happy faces, a joyful environment and numerous songs and dances. Unmarried Hindu women considered this annual festival a blessing empowering a good life partner, and married women prayed sincerely for their husband’s long and healthy life.

The festival, which is important to both married and unmarried women, has been taking a different turn culturally, traditionally and conceptually year by year. When I was in grade three, I hardly knew what the word Teej actually meant. After asking a respective subject teacher for more information, she told me it was a festival of red worn by women. At that time, too young to understand everything meant by it, I reckoned it as a festive season of red where it is mandatory for them to wear red like at a theme party.

As I grew older, I saw not only the red theme parties of fun, but I came to know the true meaning behind it and a vital festival especially reserved for women to gather and celebrate. I accepted the fact of the country’s richness in terms of culture and traditions. As years come and go, this festival of red has changed along. One of the major changes is the songs. The songs marketed these days are more a pain and less a relief. Teej songs need to be soul-touching and provide relief to women. But the songs these days have less meaning and more laugh riots.

I have also come across songs where instead of praying and wishing for the well being and good of one’s husband, asking something precious like gold in return has become more important. The songs have supposedly created a bad impression by comparing gold and husbands. Most songs are unhealthy, producing bad vibes; and many others unimpressive to hear altogether. Additionally, in the name of the festival, women engage in a competition to wear the most expensive clothes.

Showoffs have played their part in starting arguments between husbands and wives.

However, there are other good changes in the festival like fasting. Fasting being really important, women in the villages don’t even swallow saliva. Swallowing it is considered to be swallowing the blood of one’s husband. This belief is kind of prehistoric and rather superstitious in the modern world. Today, city women are drinking water, and in some cases, they also eat fruits to avoid fainting in the middle of the day. This change for and made by women is quite surprising.

The bottom line is that whatever changes in the years to come, women have this particular day to celebrate with. Like in other festivals, Teej may also have some unacceptable flaws and changes. Whatever, let’s hope that it won’t bring arguments between a husband and wife!

    Cycling At Its Best!

Banda-as in Nepali means closure. Nepal could be famous for its delicacies particularly dal-bhat(rice and pulses) and may be known as the land of Himalayas but Banda is an affective word that shakes up the preplanned  plans if you had any and certainly making you angry or happier depending on situations you are in. Today was the good Banda day.
I never was an athlete during my school years so I never had the intention to be one either. 28th August 2011 is a day to rejoice throughout my life. I actually rode on a bicycle for the first time ever in my life! I fell badly, got hurt more than thrice but I stand up even in the times when I didn’t fall or about to fall. My legs and arms are in terrible pains due to the hour’s long practice and I am in no mood to walk the walk of my feet. However, I am too happy to express.
During my first ride of practice, people to be more precise strangers helped me giving and sharing their past experiences making me feel like I belong with those people. As if I was someone they know. I really appreciated their small yet informative tips. They were very supportive. Men, women, olds and young were giving me something special, little to their good old memories and more of expertise’s helping hands.  To my surprise, I learnt to paddle and was able drive it for a minute. With that, my whole body was shouting as if they are cheering upon my success.
Trust me, my day wouldn’t be joyous to mention unless those people weren’t there to help me out. Nepal could get worst in coming years or if God has other decision may be it could possibly change but I am confident that people had seen worse at its worst and they would probably help each other because if they are capable of helping an individual on her efforts of cycling then, I am one hundred percent sure that people will be there for people in the most dreadful scenarios.

    24th August 2011(WEDNESDAY)

It ought to be a big day, today. But no, things were different! First thing in the morning my mouth swelled because of my toothache however, my students were okay with that. I mean imagine the swallowed face you are showing in such a huge mass. Good news unfolds by later. My article got published in a newspaper. It was such big thing for me that I almost end up dead by laughing. So I was smiling and laughing hard but my mouth is stopping to do it sincerely. Half smile with no force! My tooth and the news I mean they were playing with me, one making me want to cry and the other asking me to dance on my toes.

Today is one of the strangest and most amazing days in my life never to be forgotten!

    Bumpy Ride!

Want to experience how it’s like riding through the roads of Kathmandu? Then don't worry it would worth at least hitting forwards and backwards bumping up and down all, yes all the way to your destination. The rides may worsen if you are on a two wheelers and nothing ever would stop you from going wild. Spice that up more the dusty roads are expertise in making you cover your nose with your already messed hands. You may get hospitalized but you will thank lord after you have reached your destined place. That’s how adventurous, a ride in Kathmandu is usually like. In the core of Kathmandu, you won’t be facing much of the ‘hardships’ but if you are riding it within the narrow streets then save your butt from the adventurous ride!

    Follow Up Mistakes

Yeah there I made a mistake! My head is boiling at hundred degree Celsius and it’s about to crack. I went to purchase a new mobile phone to replace the old one but what happened afterwards was not any healthier than a junk food. I loved and chose a phone at one go and the idiot I forgot to check thoroughly to all the necessary parts which comes along with it. I am unaware of what I was thinking which made me forgot to check! I questioned to myself  'Can I be one of the idiots which remained undiscovered till date? How can I be a careless wreck?'  I was blaming also to the seller who was so mindless to do such mistakes to costumers.

    Mistake….mistakes….and more……

And I reckon that there are two types of mistakes. One in which an individual is responsible and the other one resulted when a misunderstanding occurs between two people. For instance, a domestic arguments or a fight between couples is due or happening because both the individuals may not be taking concerns to one partner so that both partners are fairly responsible for the final outcome. Whereas my mistake in previous piece of writing, I Lost It is the mistake where I am solely responsible.

Work For The Joy Of It

Work for the joy of it. As I was narrating my students about this paragraph, I realized something important which everyone should know. There are work placements you can work on in your walks of life but be wise to choose which. Work the work if it satisfies you, makes you happy and which interests you, not the one with which you can dig gold from. Opt for the special work which brings you a joy, helps your lips stretch little and the one that never knows the word 'tired'.

Everyone wants to live a life of a millionaire and no one wishes a life in rags. However, living up a life focusing and aiming in earning more can't let you live the LIFE you desired. I am still to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree and am in the situation where thoughts from the world surge into my small yet precious brain. Like, what happens if I completed my undergraduate degree and ultimately Master’s Degree and if lord let me then PhD? Would my life be better after the completion of my studies? Many more thoughts come, stays and walks by. Numerous others which are harder to solve.

What I have learned today is of importance and an answer to one of my many questions to myself. I hope this two lengths paragraph would be bit of a help if not so resourceful. Always keep in mind that WORK FOR THE JOY OF IT!

    I Lost It!

Ask me how did I react when I lost it for FOREVER! I volunteered in an NGO and in return I received a letter of appreciation and its gone never to be seen again. I know what matter most is my sincerity and dedication towards my deeds nevertheless, I feel so jaded. It would be only a regular paper filled with scribbles of words and texts but an impression useful for a lifetime. And now I lost it never to be seen again!

    I LOST IT!

    What Next?

It was Oslo and now, London is facing an inevitable series of mass destruction and violence. The act of killing is spreading widely like a small flicker of fire in a forest destructing almost every parts of wood and affecting wholly! People had been killed over the years. The possibility of getting more killed in near future is simply unpredictable.
As in the account of London’s massive loss, people have worsen the situation by stealing and getting out of control adding up additional work for police. Getting fire on the buildings wasn’t necessarily important to act out. Neither was hurting people. I am taking no sides! Police also had their share of flaws and faults in it. They are equally responsible for what has happened and is happening.
Situations like in the two cities aren’t few in Kathmandu to recall. There were many times when buses hit someone which results in people voicing out striking and announcing closure within valley. Those were one heck of nightmarish days in Nepal. One can guess what next will happen if another incident turned up one day.
Natural disasters have befallen upon many countries in the most recent dates. And I wondered over and over again considering the after effects. I was very much relieved that people may lose but the country can eventually overcome the loss taking as many years as it will. A slight hope of ‘can’ is what I believe aids in recreating the nation under destruction.
As I think now, if cases like in Oslo and London happen then can it be mended? Can it possible for a country and its people to overcome the killings and the number being killed? Is there a pattern of recovery possible? Is doomsday near to our doorsteps?
What next will follow if the same epidemic influence of killing spread in other countries as well?

    Mills & Boon

Finally, my hands got better hold and my mind raced with two super romantic Mills and Boon books. Contrast of both books being love stories, they flabbergasted my mind twisting and twirling it with charm of brilliance! Girl from the sea and Mask of deception are the first ever read in three days, ever in my life. Both romance readers in a manner with which people can feel the sensationalism in every tip of their bodies. In contradiction, they withhold different storyline and very unique writings.

Girl from the sea is about a young girl never imposed to the external world saved by a wealthy man. Armorel Braid is helped serially by Mr. Sholto Ransome, latter taken her into his wing of protection and care. And make her avail best of everything. Sholto, the man with gray eyes flattered beauties but whose heart stole away by the young girl he nurtured. It depicts a love in its lows and extremes between two people from different ways of life. Doubts and delusions filled a story of an inexperienced girl following her heart to love her savior-an expert with handling woman but a cold hearted rake. Can there be love between the two?

What can you say about a man who manipulated you time and over again? Mask of deception for me is a love story with lots of hidden secrets like a dish which stored surprisingly various elements that is unleashed by and by of slow chew. I thoroughly enjoyed the deceptive and manipulative character of Mr. Lucenzo Salviati and an innocent woman Meredith Corosini falling in his trap over again. A story that begins in an airport, misidentification, misunderstanding and deep rooted hatred in the city of love, Italy proved to be very attractive. Fasten your seatbelts to have a secretive ride into the book!

My journey with the two went as smoothly as butter on a toast. Give it a try and read it yourself to feel it more.
